Update 07/01/2025: From residents: "I wondered if you would be able to do anything about the flooding issues we are currently trying to deal with on Hunsterson road. The section between the junction with Lodge Lane and Crewe road. You will see I have attached a couple of photographs and am sure you will agree it's pretty diabolical and potentially dangerous - especially at the minute with the potential for freezing. It's simply due to blocked drains - on that whole stretch of road there is only one functioning drain. We have tried to clear the drains ourselves (as we know others have) , but they are blocked too far down and need serious attention. It's due to the heavy agricultural traffic we had to deal with throughout last year due to potatoes being planted at Hatherton Lodge farm and the complete disregard for the legally required clean up. I have attached a photo we took in October showing the mess that was left. The photo shows a tractor following two enormous potato harvesters down the lane. Malcolm Harrison Farms, (based at Doddington) grew the potatoes on Hatherton Lodge Farm land, we tried several times to contact them to complain and ask that the mess be cleared up but were not successful. At no time was any attempt made to clear up. All this mud has now blocked the drains." |

| Response from authority: | Update: 18/02/2021: Message from CEC: "Thank you for your enquiry. Gully emptying programmes are based on condition data collected during previous schedules, as well as criteria such as road type, volume of traffic, the proximity of schools, hospitals and transport hubs, as well as known flood risk areas. This targeted approach to gully emptying means that not all gullies will be emptied every year. We will however attend to specific issues where gullies are blocked and causing a danger to highway users or flooding to property. From the details provided, it doesn’t appear that there is any immediate hazard, nuisance or threat to property. However, if you can assist us by providing any further information, then we will consider what action is appropriate. This can be done either via the ‘report it’ option on the website at www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/highways, or by telephone on 0300 123 5020. Please be aware that the website provides the opportunity to attach supporting photographs should you feel that this would be beneficial. Further information on our approach to highway gully care is also available at www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/highways. " Update 11/11/2024: Thank you for your enquiry.
